If you have been reading this blog for any length of time you know that the planet set some monthly temperature records last year. The data is in and three of four reporting agencies (the fourth, the Met Office Hadley Centre hasn't reported yet) have declared 2014 the hottest year on record. I know that people in the Eastern United States don't want to hear that but while they were freezing other parts of the planet were roasting.
It doesn't matter how you graph the numbers they all point in the same direction—up!
All of the reporting agencies are in basic agreement.
We can also throw in a video from NASA.
While the Midwest was cooler than normal, California, Arizona, Nevada, and Alaska all experienced their hottest year on record. In fact, the Golden State shattered its old record by a remarkable of 2.3°F.
It was hot and dry here in California! You can read about all these graphs and data in any number of places. Take your pick.
Thinkprogress. They give you 2 charts and a video.
Vox.com Vox.com gives you an overall history of the subject plus 4 charts, 2 graphics and 2 videos.
Grist.org Grist gives you 5 charts.
Hopefully the regular media will be all over this.
Let face it. It getting hotter and we are all going to HELL if we don't change our ways!
