Democrats plan all-night ‘talkathon’ on climate change.
Tonight 26 Democratic United States Senators and 2 Independents will be up all night and into tomorrow morning talking about the dangers of a warming climate. “The overnight effort, organized by Sen. Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii, is part of the recently launched Senate Climate Action Task Force headed by Sens. Barbara Boxer of California (both of my senators will be speaking) and Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island.” I didn’t know that the senate had a Senate Climate Action Task Force. You can find the names of the 28 senators and their concerns in this article. This Huffington Post article asks the question, is congress ready to get real?
Why will the other 72 be sleeping in? This EDF article explains the politics of the issue and why they just might want to get involved. Of course I have already written about the Politics of Climate Change. 30 of those senators (all Republicans) are climate change deniers.
The next big question is how much notice they will get from the media? Stay tuned.
